I have some sort of Angry Birds Space comic planned for the past few weeks but topical comics have usurped its placement. In an earlier iteration this comic was going to be a straight version of the Aliens sentry gun scene only to reveal in the final panel(s) that Hicks and his crew are taking cover from a barrage of angry space avians.
This lead to the question of where the pigs were, and why the birds would attack the cast from Aliens. Why were the pigs even in space?
Because they're pigs in space! If you haven't given Angry Birds Space a shot, I'd highly recommend it. It takes the simple gameplay that made the classic releases fun and gives it an interesting twist with orbital gravity mechanics. Plus, Shigeru Miyamoto likes Angry Birds, and he never gives praise to other games!
Here's the trailer for Resident Evil 6, released this week at Capcom's Captivate event. The trailer ends by with as release date bump, moving from November 20th, 2012 up to October 2nd. And since we're talking about RE6, get a load of this collector's edition. Capcom has taken expensive collector's editions to the extreme, because this thing costs over a thousand bucks.
We've also been given our first glimpse at Project X Zone, the crossover project between Sega, Namco, and Capcom. It's nice to see Mega Man X and Zero are part of Capcom's contribution to the game!
Last week I wanted to discuss the events of Tamashii Features Vol 3, Bandai's latest show for their Japanese collector figures. The news post ran long with a list of April Fools jokes, so here's some new Tamashii promotional shots, courtesy of their US distributor, Bluefin.
First up is S.H. MonsterArts Fire Rodan, Godzilla's flying pterodactyl buddy. Or is that enemy? Godzilla monsters can never make up their mind. This is Rodan from the Heisei era ('89 on up) Godzilla films. Fatally by wounded by the big lizard in Godzilla vs Mecha Godzilla II, it was revived as Fire Rodan by some singing kids and a psychic plant (no I'm not making this up). Bandai is courteously including two stands, as this winged creature looks derptacular without a way to fly. As a first release bonus, Fire Rodan will come packed with as battle-damaged head for Mecha Godzilla and the fire-breath inherited to Godzilla.
Next on the list are the the S.H.Figuarts. I'll start with Kamen Rider Stronger (left), who I don't know much about. Here he is identifying himself as Masked Rider X through the magic of Saban's sloppy, mid-90s editing.
Then we have Kamen Rider Den-O Sword Form (right). The show aired in 2007, it was comedy-focused, and was a big hit. So as with anything that makes money, they've made sequel movies until the lead actors had to be replaced. Which leaves us with the question: why did it take this long to make a figure of the main character? We've seen his friends, his useless friends, his upgrades, and even successor -- about freakin' time, Bandai!
This is probably the coolest reveal upcoming product, because I love me some Phantasy Star Online. Bandai isn't the first to release a PSO related product as Kotobukiya has already released their own RAcaseal model kit. Not to be outdone, Bandai is releasing their own iteration in the Chogokin line, meaning she'll come with diecast parts. Bandai has also opted to include a plethora of weapons and accessories, knowing that no PSO fan can resist the ruby-red glimmer of a rare drop. In addition to all the weapons, the crate, the items and meseta, she'll also come with a fancy stand and in-game speech bubble.
